I Dottori della Chiesa
Secondo la definizione di Benedetto XIV (247º vescovo di Roma e papa della Chiesa cattolica dal 17 agosto 1740 alla sua morte nel 1758) i requisiti necessari per la proclamazione di un Dottore della Chiesa sono tre:
- una dottrina eminente.
- una insigne santità di vita.
- la dichiarazione del Sommo Pontefice o di un Concilio Generale legittimamente radunato.

The Doctors of the Church
According to the definition of Benedict XIV (247th Bishop of Rome and pope of the Catholic Church from the 17th August 1740 to his death in 1758) the requisites required for the proclamation of a Doctor of the Church are three:
- an eminent doctrine.
- a remarkable holiness of life.
- the statement of the Supreme Pontiff or of a General Council legitimately assembled.
