Nell’antichità i cibi venivano conservati dentro grandi vasi di ceramica chiamati dolii.
Al momento della cottura venivano messi in altri contenitori di ceramica, più piccoli, che venivano a loro volta messi direttamente sul fuoco o su fornellini in terracotta.
Una volta pronti venivano poi trasferiti in ciotole e vassoi che venivano portati in tavola.

In ancient times, food was stored in large ceramic pots called dolii.
At the time of cooking they were placed in other smaller ceramic containers, which were in turn placed directly on the fire or on terracotta stoves.
Once they were ready they were then transferred into bowlsand trays that were brought to the table.
