Nel periodo veneto antico ad Altino c’erano due santuari: in uno era venerato il dio Altino (si chiamava proprio come la citta!), l’altro era dedicato al dio Belatukadro.
Nel primo, all’interno di un cortile circondato da un porticato di legno, si accendevano due fuochi sacri in onore del dio Altino; mentre nel secondo era presente un altare in pietra dedicato alla divinità.

The Religion
During the ancient Venetian period there were two sanctuaries in Altino: one where the god Altino (it was called just like the city!) was venerated and the other one dedicated to the god Belatukadro.
In the first one, two sacred fires were lit in a yard surrounded by a wooden porch in honour of the god Altino; in the second one instead there was only a stone altar dedicated to the god.
