Le venete antiche delle famiglie più ricche passavano molto del loro tempo a filare e tessere la lana.
Prendevano i batuffoli di lana e, con molta pazienza, ne ricavano dei fili che avvolgevano intorno a dei rocchetti di ceramica.
Poi appendevano questi fili a dei telai, ci legavano dei pesi per tenerli tesi e iniziavano a intrecciarli con cura.
Dopo molte ore di lavoro ottenevanocosì dei tessuti caldi e morbidi con cui preparavano i vestiti per tutta la famiglia.

Spinning and Weaving
The ancient Venetian women of the wealthiest families spent much of their time spinning and weaving wool.
They took the raw wool and, with great patience, they extracted threads that were wounded around ceramic spools.
Then they hung these wires on looms, tied some weights to keep them tense and began to weave them carefully.
After many hours of work they obtained warm and soft fabrics with which they prepared clothes for the whole family.
