I ricchi veneti antichi, come i romani, mangiavano distesi su letti.
I cibi erano serviti su piatti e ciotole di ceramica e, anche per bere, si usavano bicchieri e coppe in ceramica.
Durante i banchetti si beveva molto vino che veniva portato in tavola dentro secchielli di bronzo e poi versato dai servi nelle coppe dei commensali usando un mestolo.

The Banquet
The rich ancient Venetians, like the Romans, ate lying on beds.
The food was served on ceramic plates and bowls and ceramic glasses and cups were used also to drink.
During the banquets they drank a lot of wine that was brought to the table in bronze buckets and then poured by the servants into the cups of the guests using a ladle.
